I am not sure how we got so lucky to find this exceptional 73.34 acre farm featuring a magnificent home, selected as the 1995 Outstanding Home for Fayette and surrounding counties by the Lexington Home Builders Association. Perfect for HORSE ENTHUSIASTs, NATURALISTS. A HUNTER’S AND FISHERMAN’S DREAM come true. AN ADDITIONAL HOME BUILDING SITE IS ALSO AVAILABLE to create your own family or friend compound.

1 ½ mile of the Salt River borders this farm presenting MAGNIFICENT VIEWS of the Palisades and WILDLIFE INCLUDING QUAIL, DOVE, BEAVER, TURKEY, AND DEER. Fishing is at its best whether wading in the Salt River for Bass, Catfish, Blue Gill or the pond for Crappie and Blue Gill. Hand planted animal habitats abound for the environmentally minded. A large original John Henry Signature Sculpture is nestled deep in the woods on the farm.

The large estate house boasts over 4,750 square feet plus another 1700 sq feet of wraparound wraparound porches and gazebo. Featured on the main floor is a gourmet kitchen, with hardwood floors, that would thrill any chef with its layout (Southern Living inspired cabinets and food preparation areas) and gourmet appliances. Also on the main level is a well designed mudroom with custom benches, cabinetry and sink to allow your family to enter the house without undo concern after a long walk or horseback ride. A powder room is adjacent to the mudroom and the gourmet kitchen. The kitchen opens to a gigantic great room with hardwood floors. The room’s focal point is its handcrafted limestone fireplace, with 2 huge half moon windows on each side, stretching 26’ to its vaulted pine ceiling and is complimented by wall to wall windows providing an expansive view of the farm. Completing the main level are two large bedrooms, with custom built-in desks and shelves, and a connecting bathroom with separate lavatories round out the main level of this estate house. The third floor boasts immense master quarters with large bathroom, 2-person shower, walk in closet, and separate Jacuzzi overlooking the farm. The bedroom connects to a large 2-person office with built-in shelves with a private outdoor balcony overlooking the Salt River.

The walkout basement hosts a huge game room with wall to wall windows and full bath. The 2-car garage and workshop is connected to the walkout basement.

Black plank fencing surrounds the farm, along with fenced pastures and corrals. Alfalfa and clover grows abundantly in the pastures throughout the farm. Located near the corrals and pastures is a large barn housing the farm equipment and materials. A full basketball court, sleeping loft, balcony and large workshop are also located in the main barn. An additional equipment building is adjacent to the barn along with an equipment shed.

I hope that you, like us, find our farm to be your private getaway from the constant everyday chatter.

Kentucky is a state with so many wonders and surprises. When I landed in Kentucky especially after living in the Carolinas all my life.  I thought I would be desperately lonely for the coast but became enthralled with the landscape of the Bluegrass.  What an incredible and beautiful land and people.  So as not to miss the water too much, we purchased an incredible farm with a mile and a half of the Salt River horseshoeing around the farm.  Almost 55 of the 73 fenced acres are pastured which has come in handy in growing alfalfa, clover, orchard grass for our cattle and horses.  What an idealic environment. Full of wildlife (turkey, deer, rabbit, beavers, quail) and natural habitats. You feel like you have gone back in time when life was a little less hectic.  How fortunate we are to have found this paradise.
